Systems in Ministry 1 day symposium run in conjunction with our larger conference.

Date/Time: 9:30am – 4:30pm, Wed June 15th 2016

The topic will be: Your Ministry and Your Family of Origin.

The key note speaker will be Victoria Harrison. MA. Victoria is director of the Centre for the Study of Natural systems and the Family in Houston Texas, and a faculty member and researcher at the Bowen Centre in Washington DC. She regularly trains clergy in Bowen theory across North America. She will speak about how to utilise family of origin research in working to be more responsible and self-aware in current relationships. She will utilise her own family story to show how relationship patterns are passed down the generations of our families.

People in ministry who have researched their family of origin will present in the afternoon on their learning and its effect on their ministry.

This will be an affordable training event for people in ministry.

Program:

9:30 – 11am:  Victoria Harrison – how to utilize family of origin research in working to be more responsible and self-aware in current relationships
11- 11:30am: Morning tea
11:30 – 1pm: Victoria Harrison drawing from her own family story to show how relationship patterns are passed down the generations of our families.
1pm – 1:45pm: Lunch
1:45 pm – 3pm: Presentations from 2 ministry people on their family of origin research.
Presentation 1: 1:45 – 2:25: Anna Moss – Title: Looking Back in order to Look Forward: exploring how my family of origin influences the approaches I take in ministry, and seeking healthier, more sustainable approaches for the future.
Presentation 2: 2:25 – 3pm: Michael Crichton – understanding triangles in my Family of origin
3pm – 3:20: Afternoon tea
3:20 – 4:30pm:  V Harrison showing DVD of a pastor speaking about their efforts with their family of origin and the effects.
4:30 pm: Finish

Cost:

  • $143 – without catering (incl GST)
