Objectives

The focus of the supervision group will be for participants to begin to apply Bowen’s theoretical concepts to their clinical practice, and to make sense of how symptoms are embedded in the relational patterns and reactive processes of the family. It will also be an opportunity to gain awareness of their own emotional reactions in the face of anxiety and their impact on their clinical work.

Requirements for participation:

–          A genogram of a current case, showing most significant relationships with lines for cut off, distance, conflict, and fusion, as well as key nodal points and symptoms (physical, emotional and relational).

–          Hypotheses about patterns of reactivity at nodal points.

–          A beginning thinking about the theoretical concepts, i.e. triangles, cut off, chronic anxiety, etc, that may assist in understanding the patterns of reactivity in their particular case.

Training requirements:

Essential:  Completion of Introduction to Bowen Theory Part I and II or full day workshop All in the Family.

Desirable: Family of origin group attendance.
