Family Systems & Addictions
Rescheduled to new date:
9:30am – 12:30 Wed, Sept 9th
Online attendance only via zoom
This seminar will allow participants the opportunity to think through the complexities of addictive family systems from a Bowen theory perspective, developing a nuanced appreciation for the counterbalancing life forces which are expressing themselves in an individual’s addiction, and the family emotional processes that underpin and fuel addiction. Current trends in addiction treatment will be discussed and the seminar will speak to the question of ‘what is the help that really helps?’ Clinical case examples will be provided, and participants will be welcome to consider and think through their own clinical experiences and dilemmas in treating addicted and dependent individuals. This seminar is suitable for any clinician interested in developing a deeper understanding of addiction, and is not limited to chemical dependency, but rather will speak more broadly to the obsession/compulsivity at the heart of any addictive process.
