Individual Supervision
Individual supervision provides the opportunity for therapists to present cases
in a framework that looks at the therapist's differentiation efforts in connection with the
client system as well as help identifying the client's emotional process.
Interventions will be discussed as will the integration of other theoretical approaches.
Supervision will focus on the specific development needs of the individual therapist and
assist the therapist to set goals for expanding their effectiveness in their work.
Individual Live Consultation and Supervision
A unique hands on opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills in family systems
theory and practice.
This is open to professionals who have a good grasp of theory through previous
supervision and training. Therapists work with a faculty member for 6 sessions of one case.
Dependent on the therapist experience supervisees will either observe the therapy or be
supported by faculty in doing the therapy.
It is ideal for trainees to have an experience
as both observer and therapist as part of the core clinical program (see below) Pre session
and post session discussions review the application of family systems theory to the specific case.
Supervision Groups
It is possible to create or join a Supervision Group.
This enables participants to share the costs and to benefit from being in touch
with the thinking of a variety of practitioners.
It is not necessary to present cases in a Family Systems framework to participate
in supervision. Participants will be encouraged to become clear about their own model of
practice and the interplay between different theoretical approaches.
Family of Origin Coaching
The Therapist`s Own Family
Individual and Group Coaching
Family of Origin Coaching assists the therapist to be a researcher in their own
family of origin system and to identify their role in the pattern of relationships.
Researching the pattern of triangles and the key themes and roles in the family forms
the foundation for planning specific interventions with one`s own family members.
The goal is to define self more clearly in the emotional dynamics of the system
which in turn enhances a person`s ability to relate non- reactively in other relationship
systems including the therapeutic relationship. Therapists can then consider how this impacts
upon their role as therapist with clients or as a supervisor of other therapists.
One of the premises for this work is that therapists can only take their
clients as far in their self definition efforts as the therapist has been able to take themselves.
Individuals or groups of up to 6 therapists can work together with a faculty member to
explore their own family system and plan efforts to define themselves in a more differentiated manner.
Individual therapists may focus on a specific issue in their relationships which will be viewed both
in the current and previous generational context Strict codes of confidentiality apply.
Agency / Organisation Based Training
Faculty are available to tailor training and supervision programs for the needs of individual organisations and to run them at the workplace. Specifically tailored training packages can also be developed to run off site or at The Institute`s Grosvenor Cottage.
