Family of Origin Coaching Group
(Second Year Group)
Having completed year 1 of Family of Origin research, this continuation group is designed for those who wish to progress and extend their efforts in understanding their own Family of Origin emotional system and begin to take some steps toward defining a more solid and authentic self in relation to family members. This work is based on a conscious and deliberate effort which includes a number of interlinked tasks: becoming a better observer of self and others in the system, understanding one’s own position within the primary triangles and controlling one’s own emotional reactivity and developing the ability to take thoughtful action and an “I position” amidst the intensity of emotional issues.
Participation in this group will facilitate the assessment of primary triangle configurations and ideas for ‘detriangling’ experiments, the tracking of emotional trigger mechanisms and regulating emotional reactivity, planning the mode, frequency and duration of contact with family members and developing person to person relationships with individual family members. Additionally this group will assist with ideas for speaking authentically for one’s self while remaining connected to the needs of others, maintaining relational contact following the predictable change back responses of others and provide a forum for the discussion of questions.
